Montreal, Qc, Canada (March 27, 2001) - Opusmed Inc. is introducing the next generation diode laser for the removal of unwanted hair - the F1 Diode Laser™ - an innovative diode laser that takes hair removal a step further.

‘Diode lasers offer several significant practical advantages; they are very small and lightweight; there is also a very low cost of ownership, since they are solid-state; the systems are very reliable and will offer years of trouble-free service’ declared Daniel Barolet md, President and Chief Executive Officer of Opusmed.

F1 Diode Laser™ takes diode laser technology a step forward achieving optimal laser energy utilization for the purpose of hair removal. F1 Diode Laser™ uses proprietary technology to harness and deliver diode laser energy using fiber optics. This unique technological advancement allowed Opusmed to create a compact tabletop system that weighs only 33 pounds and a lightweight handpiece minimizing operator fatigue.

‘The F1 Diode Laser™ combines a large (up to 7 mm) spot size and a rapid 4 Hz repetition rate, making it one of the fastest hair removal lasers on the market. Its PC based platform allows for advantageous features such as an optional patient data software and an internal modem for remote servicing’, noted Barolet.

As in the computer industry the laptop has outpaced the bulky mainframe, so the F1 Diode Laser™ outpaces all types of extant techniques and equipment.
The Company will shortly receive the CE mark for the European market.
